So Bro Mike also decided to "Get in Shape" some time ago and went the Gym route.
He said being in a room with a bunch of swety people and a lady yelling "Faster,Faster", motivates him to work hard during the cycle spin class at the gym. Well we have been talking about coming with us on a real ride for quite some time and last Sat morning was the day.
We woke up a 6am, loaded the car and drove into Fullerton and Met Bro Mike and Bro Patrick at 7am. At the trail head we unloaded all the bikes making sure everything we needed was packed.
Plenty of water, tools, spare tubes and a GPS course map.As we headed up the long trail, Bro Patrick was charging ahead. He has been working OT on Saturdays and has missed many a good ride. Like a Lion let out of his cage, Patrick went charging into the wilderness, leaving only a dust cloud and tire tracks for us to follow. Bro Mike did a good job at pacing Patrick, an early promising sign those spin classes had done some good.
The wife and I paced along as we knew it would be a long ride and Rechelle kept her pulse going full tilt the whole ride. This would be more that three times longer than her recent adventures.
Frequently along the trail, Rechelle and I would round a bend in the road to find Mike n Pat happily waiting our arrival as they enjoyed the wilderness in Chino Hills. The recent fires left all the large trees black, but all the grass and bushes had already grown back tall and in many cases dried brown.
Some times we would all ride together for a while, here is Mike n Rechelle, enjoying Rechelles musing from her little player (She usually has music wherever she goes).
Near the end of the trail, the Boys took a little section of "Single Track" to give Bro Mike a taste of something other than just fire road riding. Below is Mike and Pat (ahead) on said singletrack.
At on point we were on this narrow path and passing two young men coming the other way. I passed both safely as there was a steep slope off to one side. Bro Mike was next to pass so he moved to the up hill side of the trail allowing the riders to pass on the edge of the down hill side.
Well I did not see what happend, but as the second rider passed bro Mike he somehow went over the side, down the hill and into the bushes. Now I never saw bro Mike give him and elbow, nudge or any such thing, but it just sad that young man went over the side. You'll have to get the exact account from Bro Mike. After 8 miles of riding into the hills, another Biker snapped this group shot of us all. From here it was all down hill back to the Car. Look at all the smiles, enjoying the fresh air and wilderness. The pain and suffering over with the reward ahead.
16 Miles when we were all done, it was a great morning afterwhich we stopped at FarmerBoys to get some breakfast. Who's next for a great adventure ?
