Well we started our day with a grand plan. We were going to be up early, drive about an hour to Santa Cruz for some great mountain biking at Wilder Ranch. But as the saying goes "plans were made to be changed" ! We got 4 flat tires the day before so I needed to get some tubes before we started the ride. Bike shops don't open till 10am so we slept in and had a great breakfest, then we pulled out of San Benito heading for Santa Cruz in the late AM. After hitting a bike shop for some Tubes and Gloves for Mom, we were minutes from Wilder Ranch.
It's a great place, we parked and had lunch, we did not start riding till 2pm ish. Park closed at sunset so we had 3 hours to finish a 2 hour ride. here are bikes unloaded and ready to go.
Rechelle purchased a MTB map from the bike shop that showed all the trails, she made a plan and was our navigator.
Wilder ranch is 110 acers with 2+ miles of coastline. The ranch extends from beach up the rolling hills. The ride is a climb up these trails with some great views.
We stopped at a view point and a passing rider snapped a group shot for us.

Then we were mostly at the top so we had some cool trails with still a few steep climbs.

Rechelle has a lot of determination, she does not always go fast but she really tries to climb the hills and not walk.

Kayley is our little powerhouse. She beat me and Levi and was the first one to the top!
Afer a bit, we had our Break with a traditional MTB Snack. Levi wants to start snacking right after we start riding. Cliff Bars for ALL !
After hitting the top we started a trail down the hill. The ocean view and the lower sun made a pretty sight.

haha, kara, i like how youve got that im-concentrating-so-im-biting-my-lip thing going on on that hill!
Another day, another gorgeous ride...
I just noticed that Kayley looks older. I mean, I know people look older but it wasn't that long ago when I last saw her.
Looks like a cool bike ride. Good job on conquering before sunset!
